Welcome Aboard the “Royal Princess”!
This past October 2013, I was fortunate to be among the first to sail “The Royal Princess” (of Princess Cruise Line) during her debut and inaugural cruise in North America. And what a debut it was! On the main pool deck, there were fireworks, a light show, a live band, and plenty of food and drink for all! I have exciting information to share with you about this elegant ship!
There are many distinctive features, and here are my top picks. Unique to this ship is the “Sea Walk”. It is a glass-bottom, top-deck promenade which extends 28 feet BEYOND THE EDGE OF THE SHIP. As you walk it and look down through the glass, you see the ocean 128 feet below. It may be a little scary, but very fun! Another attractive feature is the pool area designated as the “The Sanctuary”. It is for adults only and provides plush, private poolside cabanas. Also for couples is the “Couples Cabana” at the Lotus Spa. After receiving side-by-side massages, couples have a sitting area, tub, and shower, and a special food and beverage menu to enjoy. The three-level central atrium, called “The Piazza”, is very beautiful. It offers many dining options, as well as live entertainment and shopping. Lastly, each and every outside stateroom has a balcony on this 3,600 passenger ship!
And, in true British style, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge became the Godmother to this ship in Southampton, England in June 2013. Her dress and other keepsakes from this naming ceremony are beautifully displayed behind glass on the ship.
After my very enjoyable experience, I recommend this ship for adults, couples, and families with adult children. It is fun, relaxing, and elegant. For more details, feel free to contact me at any time!
